How likely are you to recommend Dr. Schermerhorn?
I met Dr. Schermerhorn 18 years ago when he performed a VERY successful 4 1/2 hour neuro-neck surgery on me. The first surgeon I consulted wanted to fuse me, which I declined. I got a second opinion from Dr. Schermerhorn, who told me he would not fuse me because my discs were so bad he could cause me more trouble. Instead he cleaned me out and my neck has been great ever since. Five weeks ago I needed to have lower back surgery, which included fusing L4 and L5, and placing rods and screws in my back. I'm 68 and was constantly leaning more forward every year as my discs were out of alignment. I also had pain radiating down my leg. Once again Dr. Schermerhorn worked his magic and I now stand up perfectly straight for the first time in years, with no lower back pain. I can say with great sincerity that you will not find a finer neurosurgeon anywhere in the country. He is a perfectionist who spends as much time as needed to understand and answer questions. He also teaches at U of M!
