How likely are you to recommend Dr. McKinney?
When I first saw Dr. McKinney, who was to do a biopsy on me, I was a bit startled-- she seemed so young! It soon became apparent, though, that I had lucked out with a great surgeon. Although I am not in the field so I can't speak to her competence, she was really respectful in terms of explaining exactly what she wanted to do and why. When she got the consent, it wasn't just the normal "sign this form" and being annoyed if I actually want to read it before signing-- I really did understand the procedure they were going to do, and this helped a lot, both with my anxiety and my helping them: because I understood clearly what they were going to do, I understood WHY I needed to stay perfectly still for the whole procedure (which was quite uncomfortable) and that made it easier. During the procedure, she explained what was happening, which helped me not to get startled and also helped with the anxiety of it.
