Patient Reviews
Dec 12, 2023
I was somewhat nervous about my surgery. I heard tales of difficult days and weeks post-op from fudoplication. I had had nearly 20yrs of reflux, the last 2 with regurgitation. I was on PPI’s for all 20 of them. I couldn’t drink more than 1 cup of liquid w/o it coming back up into my mouth. My urine was a dark orange/yellow. Once I was out of recovery, I never had a moment of pain or discomfort. I was told that I would be nauseous and have trouble swallowing for a few days. I never had to take the anti nausea meds. I had no trouble swallowing. I was able to stop all pain meds 3 days early. Due to the expected trouble eating, I heard from several people who had this surgery that I would likely loose 15 pounds. After one week, I have lost 2. I am able to eat and drink as much as I like with no reflux or regurgitation. As a result, my urine is now nearly colorless which is fantastic for my kidney health. I no longer take a PPI. I cannot praise Dr. Ugiki and his team strongly enough!
