What is osteoporosis?

Osteoporosis is a bone condition that happens when a person loses bone mass and bone mineral density. Reduced bone strength increases a person's risk of fractures, most commonly in the wrists, hips, and spinal bones.

Does osteoporosis cause fatigue?

Osteoporosis typically does not cause any noticeable symptoms. However, if osteoporosis occurs due to a certain underlying condition, such as vitamin D deficiency, a person may experience fatigue.

What exercises should be avoided with osteoporosis?

It is best for a person with osteoporosis to avoid high impact sports. These include equestrian sports, skiing, contact sports, and any other activity that increases the risk of falling.

What are the signs and symptoms of osteoporosis?

Osteoporosis does not usually cause any symptoms. A person will typically only discover that they have osteoporosis after they experience a fracture from a fall. Because of this, some people refer to it as a "silent' condition.
