The Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain's Policy Development Unit has commissioned a report, titled Community pharmacy and alcohol-misuse services: a review of policy and practice, to assess the feasibility of community pharmacy-based services for alcohol misuse, and to identify how such services would fit with government alcohol policies in England, Scotland and Wales.
Eileen Neilson, Head of Policy Development, said: "Government strategies for pharmacy envisage a greater role for pharmacists in tackling the health consequences of alcohol misuse.
This report highlights examples of existing community pharmacy-based alcohol misuse services and suggests how community pharmacy can play a greater role in the provision of such services. I encourage anyone with an interest in the topic to read the report."
The full report will be available on the Society's website http://www.rpsgb.org as of the afternoon of 11 July.
