The Eyes & Vision Specialist Library is pleased to present the 2008 Annual Evidence Update for Age-Related Macular Degeneration. The Annual Evidence Update is a collection of evidence that has emerged over the past 12 months since the 2007 National Knowledge Week.

For the purposes of this AEU the term Age Related Macular Degeneration is used to cover both wet and dry forms of the disease and the emphasis is on its sight threatening or visually impairing forms.

The evidence is presented through a number of topics reflecting the care pathway and has been categorised into secondary publications (Cochrane systematic reviews, systematic reviews, reviews and meta-analyses), interventional studies (randomized control trials and clinical control trials) and observational studies (cohorts, case control trials, population based cross sectional studies, comparative studies, qualitative surveys and case reports/series ).

Notes

Links to last year's National Knowledge week will be provided, as well as links to full text articles where possible and in all other cases the PubMed abstract.

Printable versions are available, and the Eyes and Vision Specialist Library uniquely provides a low vision accessible web version of its evidence updates.

Topics include:

- Epidemiology
- Genetics & AMD
- Retinal imaging for diagnosis
- Therapeutic intervention: anti-VEGF therapy
- Surgical intervention: macular translocation
- Living with AMD
- Low Vision Aids and AMD
